We, the Needy Cancer Health Initiative (NCHI), are a dedicated organization committed to improving the quality of life for cancer patients in Kenya, with a particular focus on Meru County, where the prevalence of cancer is alarmingly high. Over the years, we have stood by those affected by this devastating disease, providing critical support, treatment, and hope to the most vulnerable.
Our achievements speak for themselves:
We have been able to rescue and provide care for cancer patients such as *Maria and Hellen* from Igembe North, who lived with untreated breast cancer for years, and *David Mugambi*, a 29-year-old orphan from Igembe South who suffered from untreated skin cancer for over a decade. Through our efforts, these individuals now have access to life-saving treatments, and their health is improving.
We have had major donations: In May 2024, we received a transformative donation of KSh. 10 million from Mary Keane, a breast cancer specialist nurse from Ireland, which has allowed us to significantly expand our services and reach more patients in need.
We have also collaborated with a family in Nanyuki to provide prosthetic breasts for women who have undergone mastectomies, offering them not just physical support but emotional comfort as well.
Now, we invite you, esteemed members of the Meru Bar, to join us in our next significant endeavor—a *Charity Run Fundraiser* on *19th October 2024 at Meru University*. The proceeds will go towards the construction of a free palliative care centre in Meru, which will be a beacon of hope for the needy cancer patients in our community.
Your participation, whether through registering for the run, purchasing a cap and a t-shirt where a cap goes at 700ksh only and a t-shirt 1,000Ksh only, or joining us in a charity dinner, will make a real difference.
Let’s all kindly come together to be the change-makers for our county and Kenya at large.
